Express
Pharma Pulse Awards 2002
3
new recognitions this time, totalling 10
Honouring
excellence has been our tradition. Or perhaps a habit. Indian pharmaceutical
industry is the fourth largest in the world today. The highest of
its growth rally was registered in the last one decade. As an industry-centric
publication, we have been feeling the pangs of a growing industry.
With our ears pressed to the ground, we have been harking to the
thuds of growth as it took foliages for the last seven years. Today,
if Express Pharma Pulse holds the most faithful mirror to the industry;
if it has become the undisputable gradient to measure the pulse
of the industry, we attribute everything to our care-givers. We
honour them. We recognise the best of them. The best of the best.
Industry
associations, have always recognised the meritorious performers.
But this is the first national initiative, from outside the industry
to recognise excellence.
Last
year we had given 7 awards:
1.)
Overall Performance Category - 4
2.) Special
Category - 3
(Lifetime Achievement, Special Recognition &
Best Exporter)
Cipla,
Unichem, Biochem and Morepen won the best performers awards
whereas best exporters and Special Recognition awards went
to Ranbaxy Ltd and Shantha Biotech respectively. Late Ramanbhai
Patel of Zydus Cadila received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Under
the overall performance category, the top 150 companies as per IMS
data were classified into four groups and evaluated on totally quantifiable
parameters of market share, growth, new product introductions and
sales with appropriate weightages assigned to each.
THIS
YEAR, there are SIX awards in overall performance category and FOUR
in the special category with an additional recognition for the best
bulk drug company.
