Pharma stocks gain as sensex recovers marginally

The Bombay Stock Exchange on the first trading day of the week (Monday 23) opened on a cautious note at 3030.65. During the day it remained unchanged losing 3.07 points to close at 3021.20 points. On Friday 27, the sensex opened at 3020.23 and closed at 3037.26 registering a gain of 22.57 points. This was mainly due to buying of selective stocks by domestic and foreign funds.

Some of the major gainers were: Aurobindo Pharma 215.55 (211.15); Dabur India 46.35 (46); Dr Reddy’s 847.55 (832.45); German Remedies 278.55 (268.50) Glaxo 371.30 (369.30); Kopran 41.55 (36.90); Knoll Pharma 277 (270.05); Novartis 224.80 (224.50); Parke Davis 183 (180.50); Pfizer 422.90 (416.50); Ranbaxy 913.30 (885.20); Sun Pharma 572.75 (561.25); Suven Pharma 79.95 (75.25);

The major losers were: Abbott 155.60 (168.90); Aventis Pharma 351.95 (355.10) Burroughs Wellcome 202 (203.20); Cadila Healthcare 115.60 (116.90); J B Chemicals 163.75 (166.05); Merck 255 (257); Morepen 31.10 (37.25); Lupin Labs 97 (98.50) Nicholas Piramal 219.15 (221.35); Procter & Gamble 395 (395.85); Unichem Labs 251.75 (251.90); Wockhardt 485.50 (472.90)
