Seminar on excise and taxes

Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) jointly with Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM) is organising a two-day seminar on Central Excise & Service Tax and Customs (policy, rules, procedures, regulations on November 29-30, 2002 at Hotel Bawa International, Mumbai.

Diosynth gets IAOH certificate of excellence

Kolkata: The Kolkata based Diosynth Manufacturing Unit of Organon India Limited-formerly Infrar (India) Ltd-has won the ‘Certificate of Excellence IAOH Award: 2001-2002’.

The certificate has been awarded by Indian Association of Occupational Health (Kolkata Branch) for providing best efforts in First-Aid Management in the Occupational Health Centre at its Ganganagar facility on the outskirts of Kolkata.

IIP Cell conducts skill development prog

Mumbai: AICTE sponsored Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIP Cell) of C U Shah College of Pharmacy, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai conducted a one-day Skill Development Programme on tablet coating in collaboration with Colorcon Asia Pvt Ltd.

Ashish Parekh, area technical manager, delivered lectures on ‘‘Coating Techniques’’ as well as ‘‘Aqueous Film Coating’’ in the lecture session. This was followed by practical session on coating using different types of coating equipments like conventional pan coaters, Accela Coat machines and fluidized bed coaters by Parekh and Anil.

UPHS: Sheltering the needy

THE United Physically Handicapped School (UPHS), located in Coimbatore is a boon for the physically and mentally challenged children. The school has 110 students on the rolls and is offering free accommodation and education upto standard 10.

‘‘It is the society’s indifferent attitude and its apathy towards the less privileged that produce these destitute children,’’ says Dr S Radhakrishnan, founder & secretary of the school.
