CII to hold clinical research conference

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising a two day conference on clinical research in India - A road map during 3-4 April, 2003. The conference which is going to be held at Hotel Hyaat Regency, New Delhi aims at:

  • Providing a platform where Indian and International industry, regulators and other concerned agencies meet, interact, network and conclude business
  • Promoting India as a destination for clinical and other contract research services
  • Discussing the current barriers for clinical research that need urgent attention, including: Ethics committees, adoption of GCP guidelines, availability of medical practitioners trained in GCP hospital infrastructure and development of research in medical centres/ institutions, aspects of pre-clinical research.

Distinguished international and Indian speakers will be invited to come and speak. The possible topics could be:

  • Clinical trial opportunities Destination India:
  • Advantages: The pros and cons of undertaking clinical trials in emerging markets such as India
  • Destination India: Barriers to be overcome
  • Translating trials into practices
  • Pre-clinical trial preparations to minimize problems during the study phase
  • Identifying the key factors for achieving faster study completion, patient recruitment, investigator recruitment and study design
  • Benchmarking for efficient drug development
  • Enhancing the value of your clinical trail process
  • Strategies for speeding up the clinical trial process by ensuring that the final patient treated coincides with database closure
  • Regulatory Issues
  • Updates on international regulatory practices vis-a-vis clinical research
  • Role of ethics committees at the national and institutional level
  • Developing strategies to minimize delays by ethics committees
  • Adoption of Indian GCP guidelines vis-a-vis ICH/GCP guidelines
  • Maintaining optimum relationship with regulatory authorities during the clinical trials study to speed up the registration procedure.
