Reconsider the VAT rate
The Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) welcomes the decision to introduce VAT to replace local taxes effective April 2003. But it is not in favour of VAT rate of 12.5 per cent for medicines as it will increase prices of all medicines across the board to the consumer.

Welcome VAT, it is a wise move
Remember1995! All the hue and cry the pharma industry and all even remotely related, including NGO sectors made about ‘EMR.’ Inks and throats went dry, volumes were written about and millions were spent on seminars, workshops, recommendations and representations.
