‘The new treatment will control diabetes without any side-effects’

Dr Jyoti Ghosh

Dr Jyoti Ghosh, a renowned clinical scientist, is the recipient of a top US honour for formulating a significant new method for the treatment of diabetes. An internationally accepted authority on modern complimentary medicines, Dr Ghosh is being honoured by The Prosthetics For Diabetics Foundation, Georgia, for formulating the combination regimen of phyto-pharmaceutical and natural origin medicines for treating diabetes mellitus type II. Dr Ghosh will be presented with the Foundation’s first ever award of honour and excellence for the contribution he has made in the management particularly of female hormonal aberration based diseases and adult onset diabetes. The award to be presented at a ceremony to be held on World Health Day April 7 in Atlanta, Georgia, carries a citation and a prize money of US $500,000 making it the highest ever award presented in medicine excepting perhaps the Nobel Prize. With a degree of Doctor of Medicine from Lisbon, a graduate and a fellow of British Institute of Homoeopathy, UK, Dr Ghosh is a classified specialist of German Institute of Healing, Berlin. In a brief meeting with Vijaya K, Dr Ghosh speaks on his contributions to women’s health and diabetes. Excerpts:

Can you briefly explain the new method for treating diabetes?

I have been doing research for several years on using phyto pharmaceutical drugs in combination with natural origin medicine, which is a three part formula. The remarkable breakthrough is the result of the research. I had to analyse the totality of diabetes mellitus type II and had to find answers from medicinal or pharmaceutical ingredient without creating any side effect and which would be able to conquer that deficiency. The task though difficult has been a fulfilling one and now that it has been accepted and recognised I am very happy that a diabetic would not have to lead a pathetic life. With the Foundation award, I will be able to expand and carry on with my work in this as well as in other health areas which affect vast population the world over.

How different is this from the conventional methods? What are the benefits?

It is now possible for the millions of people, the world over, to very effectively manage the disease. To the best of my knowledge there is no basic treatment which does not create any side effect. There is no treatment which can completely control the disease but this new treatment will completely control it and does not produce any side effects. This is a combination kind of therapy with side effect free remedies. It is modern mono molecular but not synthesized. I am confident that close to 98.28 per cent patients shall be benefited from this treatment.

Is the drug available in India? With India expected to reach epidemic proportions in diabetes in the next few years how can this treatment benefit Indian patients?

This drug is not yet licensed in India. Currently it is available in the US and Germany. I am basically looking at two things — the award money should go into my other ongoing and future research works and an IT exemption for my drugs. I need to succeed in getting the drug licensed in the India. I have been receiving many letters from patients on why the drug should not be allowed in India and why the government will not waive the requirement of conducting phase III clinical studies.

What is the cost and duration of the treatment?

The drug can control sugar within 90 days and subsequently controlling dose should be taken by the patients. Cost will vary from country to country. India has a very high import duty and it would be difficult to enter Indian market if the government does not give any exemption.

What has been your contribution towards female hormonal aberration based diseases? What are your other research areas of interest?

Two of my major areas of research are on all the diseases that women suffer because of hormonal aberration, acnes etc and two or three research projects in this area are in pipeline. The second one is diabetes. These are my independent efforts and I expect to complete them soon. I have not yet been able to make much breakthroughs on some of the diseases related to female hormones.

How does the new method help avoid amputation of limbs in severe diabetes?

Most importantly one of the common devastating progression of the disease — loss of limbs — can now be controlled and virtually eliminated. The new drugs avoids limb amputation.

What are your services for humanitarian cause?

I dedicate my efforts in formulating this combination diabetes therapy for treating patients with diabetes and it is the fact that I do not accept any compensation or any other benefits for treating them.

Treating disease without any monetary or other considerations is my mission. More than 90 per cent of my patients are women and I believe that healing them is of the utmost priority, as women are the mothers of our world and also are the greatest sufferers in our society.
