modifies GIPAP with immediate effect
NOVARTIS announced that the Glivec International Patient Assistance
Program (GIPAP) has been modified to begin accepting new patients
immediately, including patients that have been enrolled in generic
imatinib patient assistance programmes.

granted first USFDA approval for Ceflaclor tablets
Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited (Ranbaxy), announced that the company
has received the first approval from the US Food and Drug Administration
to market the anti-infective Cefaclor tablets, chewable, in 125
mg, 187 mg, 250 mg and 375 mg strengths.

Nicholas Piramal India Limited (NPIL) has announced the buy-out
of its partners 50 per cent stake in Sarabhai Piramal Pharmaceuticals
Private Limited (SPPL) for Rs 693 million.

STRIDES Arcolab has reported a net profit of Rs 6.32 crores and
sales of Rs 275.90 crores for the 18 month period ended September
2003, according to a press release issued by the company.
