Three biotech cos plan research centres in Germany

EPP News Bureau - Bangalore

THREE Indian biotech companies — two from Bangalore and one from Pune — plan to set up research centres at the Frankfurt Innovation Centre (FIZ) for biotechnology. A final agreement to this effect is likely to be signed between one of the companies and FIZ, according to FIZ managing director Dr Christian Garbe.

Dr Garbe said that the companies were in advanced stages of discussions with FIZ and the deals were likely to be signed in October. However, he declined to name the companies. He said while German companies were increasingly viewing India as an important market in Asia, Germany in turn would act as a gateway to the European markets for Indian companies. India had the advantage of a well-educated and skilled workforce technology, he said.
