Ipca receives Lifetime Achievement Award from Chemexci
lMumbai-based Ipca Laboratories Ltd received the Life Time Achievement Award at a ceremony held recently in Mumbai. The Chemexcil (Basic Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals & Cosmetics Export Promotion Council) award was received by Premchand Godha and M R Chandurkar, managing directors of the company from Manohar Joshi (ex-chief minister of Maharashtra and ex-Speaker of Lok Sabha).

Government to reintroduce Bill to tackle spurious drugs
Although the Cabinet during the NDA regime has shot down the proposal to give severe penalty including capital punishment to manufacturers/dealers of spurious drugs, the UPA government has now decided to reintroduce the Bill in the Parliament.

Biocon, ICICI Lombard tie up for rural medical cover
Corporate India has joined hands for a worthy cause again: this time, Bangalore-based biotech company Biocon Ltd has joined hands with ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd and the Bangalore’s Narayan Hrudayalaya to launch a first of its kind medical insurance scheme for the rural poor.

Schott Glass India Pvt Ltd organised Pharma Symposium 2004 - Security by quality recently in Mumbai. Speaking on the occasion, R Banerjee, director, Schott Glass India Pvt Ltd, said, the company’s tubing division is India’s first and only glass tubing manufacturer with a quality management system certified by the German TUV Rheinland in accordance with international standard ISO 9001: 2000.

Dr V B Gupta appointed director of BRNCP
Dr Vipin Bihari Gupta has been appointed as the Director of B R Nahata College of Pharmacy, Mandsaur (MP). An alumnus of Sagar University, Dr Gupta has served in various capacities in the academia and industry in India as well as abroad, and he is a regular contributor to the EPP.
