Titan introduces calorie tracker

EPP News Bureau - Bangalore

Titan Industries announced the pilot launch of Cal Track, India’s first 24x7 calorie tracker, in Bangalore recently. Intended to promote walking as a way of life, Cal Track marks Titan’s foray into a novel and specific segment of personal accessories. The elegant design coupled with the product’s functional aspect makes Cal Track one of the coolest new offerings of the season from Titan.

Announcing the pilot launch, Bijou Kurien, COO-Watches, Titan Industries Ltd, said, ‘‘Changing lifestyles and prevalent social trends have led to an increased awareness and desire among today’s generation towards healthy living. Acknowledging this need Titan has introduced Cal Track, a personal accessory that helps in calorie management. Cal Track reinforces Titan’s image as an innovator in personal accessories.’’

According to a press release issued by the company, the Cal Track is an electro mechanical device that not only registers the steps taken but also tracks calorie expenditure whether on move or at rest in a 24 hour cycle. It can be customized, is easy to use and uses a WHO recommended formula.

Adds Lisa Sarah John, renowned dietician ‘‘In today’s changing lifestyle which are dominated by stress related health problems it is important for everyone to have a good calorie management programme. Calories consumed can be monitored and this device is extremely useful in accurately calculating the calories expended in a day.’’

This technology driven device has a specially programmed intelligent IC chip that senses the user movements and updates values for calories burnt at 30-second intervals. This innovatively designed progressive personal accessory is a result of a rigorous research and development phase encompassing trial runs and inputs from leading dieticians, physicians and nutritionists. The company R&D has worked very closely with the Mysore University of Food Science and Nutrition in developing this unique customer centric product.

The Cal Track comes with a food journal and a diary to keep a track of daily calorie consumption and expenditure thereby assisting in weight management programs.

Available in three interesting colours — cool blue, silver grey and a charcoal black, the device is specifically designed to fit comfortably on the hip.
