West Bengal to have a new comprehensive drug policy soon
To make West Bengal pharma companies globally competitive in this era of WTO, the State Government will soon unveil a new comprehensive drug policy, Dr Sajal Roy Chowdhury, director, Directorate of Drugs Control, Government of West Bengal informed Express Pharma Pulse.

Jubilant to enter formulations
Jubilant Organosys has firmed up plans to enter the lucrative outsourced formulation (dosage forms )market which is currently tapped by Ranbaxy and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories. It is also readying to operationalise its wholly-owned clinical research subsidiary Jubilant Clinsys Ltd by March 2005.

Solae Company launches soya protein Soy Day
The Solae Company, a leading global protein supplier, has recently launched the soy protein brand Soy Day. Soy Day is a well researched, tastier extract of soya, made using scientific innovations of Dupont, world’s biggest scientific innovator, after removing those components that gave it the taste which some felt unpleasant, said Dr Sanjeev K Chaudhary, Area Director (South Asia) and Country Head (India).

VAT to be implemented from April 1: FM
The government has decided to implement value added tax (VAT) from April 1, 2005. It has proposed two rates of 4 and 12.5 per cent with VAT being imposed on 550 goods.
