Panacea lines up vaccine candidates and biopharmaceuticals
Adopting a multi-pronged strategy of in-licensing, academia partnership and in-house research, the Delhi-based Panacea Biotech has moved up the value chain as a research company and has lined up a set of vaccine candidates and at least three biopharmaceuticals.

Orchid expects to triple growth in cephalosporins
Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd, the Chennai-based pharma major engaged in the manufacture and export of cephalosporin and non-cephalosporin bulk actives, formulations and nutraceuticals is expecting a quantum jump in the growth of business in both antibiotics and non-antibiotics segments taking the business figure to US $30 million in the case of cephalosporins in a matter of three years, said Dr Sumant Baukhandi, President, Regulatory and Quality Affairs, to Express Pharma Pulse.

Government decides to free trade from Rule 67 obligation
Consequent to pressure by drug traders, the government has prepared a draft document to amend Rule 67 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, that will liberalise the entire system. Senior officials in the Narcotics Control Bureau told Express Pharma Pulse that the proposed amendment envisages to free the whole distributor chain from the additional documentation by way of Form 6.
