Elder launches nicotine replacement therapy gum

City-based Elder Pharmaceuticals Ltd has launched NuLife (nicotine polacrilex USP) chewing gum, a nicotine replacement therapy product (NRT) for tobacco cessation in India.

NuLife chewing gum would be promoted to doctors who inturn would prescribe the drug to tobacco addicts, wanting to quit the habit.

Nicotine gum is available in the US and several other western countries since the 1980s and is approved by the US FDA for tobacco cessation.

It is the oldest and most successful form of NRT used to help tobacco addicts overcome the habit of consuming tobacco. NRT is a method by which small amounts of nicotine is provided to take care of the withdrawal symptoms associated with tobacco cessation.
