Ranbaxy moves court against NPPA demand for Rs 4.6 crore

Ranbaxy in its petition has stated that the pricing authority has slapped three demand notices

Drug major Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd has moved the Delhi High Court against the central government, seeking a stay of demand notice for Rs 4.65 crore slapped by the National Pharmaceuticals Pricing Authority (NPPA) on account of alleged overcharging of certain formulations that the company says it does not manufacture.

While making Union of India, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals and NPPA as parties, Ranbaxy in its petition has stated that the pricing authority has slapped three demand notices for Rs 4.65 crore, including the principal amount of Rs 2.15 crore and interest thereon around Rs 2.49 crore on it, for alleged ovecharging in respect of Cloxacillin sodium-based formulations from April 1996 to June 2003.
