Report on Community Pharmacy Seminar organized by IPA - MSB

Indian Pharmaceutical Association (Maharashtra State Branch) organised one-day
seminar on Community Pharmacy at the Auditorium of Tata Memorial
Centre, Advanced Centre for Treatment Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC),
Kharghar, Navi Mumbai on Sunday, 19th June, 2005.
Mr M G Kekatpure Vice-President, IPA-MSB welcomed the participants and introduced
the Chief Guest Mr P R Uttarwar, Joint Commissioner, (Konkan Division) Food
and Drug Administration (M.S). The special invitees were Mr. T.S. Patil, Assistant
Commissioner, Raigad and Dr Prashant Bhat, Asst. Medical Superintendent of the
ACTREC. Mr Gilda, the President of Panvel Chemists Association and Mrs
Dhuri from Cipla offered a warm welcome to dignitaries.
The Chief Guest emphasised on the importance of community pharmacist with respect
patient - pharmacist interaction and FDAs support to take action based
on feedback. Mr Asghar M. Nandan, In-charge Dept. of Pharmacy, ACTREC opened
series of 5 presentations with Drug Combination and Drug Incompatibility
Chemist Point of View Dr R.B. Smarta, Managing Director, Interlink Marketing
Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. spoke on strategies to maximise business of retail pharmacist
through Positive Attitude and Time Management. His tips on efficiency,
effectiveness, prioritisation; managing skills and knowledge economy were outstanding
to improve the business of the practising pharmacists.
Mr Omprakash Sadhwani, Assistant Commissioner, Intelligence Branch, FDA gave
a regulatory presentation Pharmacist responsibility under D&C Act
and Rules and for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances . Dr H P
Tipnis, Advisor to The Medicine Shoppe spoke on Registered Pharmacist
Role in Community Pharmacy. The seminar ended with very interactive and
enthusiastic participation by the audience in the Panel Discussion along with
the esteemed speakers. Mr Rajesh Dalal, the Convenor of the seminar delivered
the vote of thanks for making the event very successful. |
