Kemwell acquires a Pfizer manufacturing facility in Sweden
Kemwell, an Indian contract manufacturer, has acquired Pfizer's manufacturing plant in Uppsala, Sweden, for an undisclosed amount. Kemwell will continue to manufacture the anti-inflammatory drug Salazopyrine. Zeibrant Lindqvist, CEO, Pfizer Health AB, says, “By selling the production facility, we believe that the plant and jobs will remain in the region.”

Anemone Pharmaceuticals announce plans to expand reach
With a mission to cover India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, the Director of Anemone Pharmaceuticals, S Mahesh said, “Although we have suffered a small setback in this year's budget, in the financial year 2006-07, we intend to expand operations to an estimated Rs 50 crore.”

Revolutionary Stem Cell technology now available in Surat
LifeCell, India's cord blood bank, announced the launch of its marketing and collection centre in Surat, for umbilical cord stem cell banking. LifeCell has a Stem Cell Processing and Banking facility near Chennai, conforming to the standards of American Association of Blood Banks and USFDA.

Wyeth sorts out Prevenar mess
Following a major controversy that sparked off from the earlier announcement of Wyeth to relinquish its marketing rights for Prevenar vaccine, there is yet another news about Wyeth, the 51 percent Indian subsidiary of Wyeth USA, retaining the marketing rights for the vaccine.

Lupin leaves Thailand and moves to South Africa
Lupin and Aspen Pharma-care Holdings, South Africa, have entered into a Memorandum of Under-standing for the establishment. The MOU is a 50:50 joint venture for the development, manufacture and global marketing (except US, South Africa & India Trade) of selected Anti-TB products.
