Zydus Cadila receives tentative approval for Levofloxacin

Zydus Cadila has received tentative approval from the USFDA to market Levofloxacin Tablets, 250 mg, 500 mg and 750 mg in the US market. The drug falls in the anti-infective segment.

The branded sales of Levofloxacin Tablets in the US market in 2005 was estimated at $1.2 billion (NDC). The company will market the drug through its US subsidiary, Zydus Pharmaceuticals (USA), following patent expiry.

This marks the thirteenth ANDA approval for the group, since the commencement of filing process in FY 2003-04. So far, the group has filed 36 ANDAs and 40 DMFs.
