Botox gets DCGI nod

Our News Bureau - Mumbai

The most talked about cosmetic treatment, Botox, which is associated with all the rich and the famous is now approved in India. It is approved for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), glabellar lines (frown lines) and hyperkinetic facial lines (facial lines) by the Drug Controller General of India. Allergan is the sole marketer of Botox in India.

Yatin Samant, the MD of Allergan India said, “Botox, with its proven safety and efficacy since the last 20 years, offer solutions to those who are seeking to look better. It will be a pleasure to see the Indian market catching up with the international markets like that of USA, where Botox is the most preferred non- surgical cosmetic procedure.”

In today's highly competitive environment, where appearance plays a major role, many executives, people in the media, the glamour world and also housewives are opting for Botox treatment to get rid of their wrinkles. Also, studies have shown that regular use of Botox increases the duration of action. Women use Botox treatment in larger numbers though men are not lagging far behind underlining the importance of grooming and looking good.
