Glenmark gets USFDA nod to market generic Meloxicam

Glenmark received USFDA approval to market Meloxicam oral tablets 7.5 milligram and 15 milligram, a generic version of Boehringer Ingelheim's brand, Mobic. The drug belongs to a category of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and is prescribed for the indication of osteoarthritis with annual sales of about $936 million. The generic will be marketed by Glenmark's US subsidiary, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, which will commence supplying the generic drug to customers in the US immediately.

In the meanwhile, Lupin too has received USFDA approval of its ANDA for Meloxicam tablets, 7.5 milligram and 15 milligram.
