Torrent Pharma launches CVpill

Our News Bureau - Mumbai

Torrent Pharma has launched CVpill, the world's first polypill in cardiac care. The pill will be available in a kit containing a capsule and a tablet. The capsule contains a statin (Atorvastatin 10 mg), an ACE inhibitor (Ramipril 5 mg) and an anti-platelet agent (Enteric-coated Aspirin 75 mg). The tablet contains a beta blocker (Metoprolol Succinate Extended Release 50 mg). The capsule and the tablet are to be taken simultaneously once-a-day. The CVpill is a combination of these four most recommended molecules used in the treatment for multiple cardiovascular risk factors. Commenting on the occasion, Ruchir Modi, Head, Strategic Marketing, said, "The CVpill ensures multiple benefits of more patient compliance, more convenience, more economy and above all more protection for less thereby reducing the pill and bill burden on patients." All the four constituents of this kit are standalone blockbuster molecules with huge prescription volume and a combined market worth Rs 500 crores. With CVpill, the company has created a completely new segment in cardiology care and aims to clock more than Rs 10 crores in sales in the first year of its launch.
