J&J opens R&D facility in Mumbai

Our News Bureau - Mumbai

Janssen-Cilag and Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical R&D (J&JPRD) celebrated the opening of an extended and renovated Analytical and Pharmaceutical Development Center, in Mumbai. This comes in wake of J&JPR&D's recent plans to expand its overall presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The APDC will provide a world-class environment for research scientists, and will be its hub for analytical and pharmaceutical formulation development processes. This will increase J&JPRD's overall capacity to discover and develop new pharmaceuticals. These processes play an important role in the introduction of new medicines for the global marketplace, since they ensure the quality of new compounds. It is in this phase of a drug's lifecycle that scientists also decide on the form in which the medicine can best be produced and packaged. "We are pleased to expand our footprint here in Mumbai, which is part of our overall strategy to perform high-level R&D in the Asia Pacific region while simultaneously increasing our capacity to produce world-class medicines," said Paul Stoffels, MD, Company Group Chairman, Pharmaceutical Research and Development, Johnson & Johnson.
