CIA 2007-Embracing the growth and future
Investment in leading edge technologies is crucial towards enhancing efficiency
and services in line with India's aim towards becoming the leading growth markets
in the chemical processing, oil and gas, food and beverage processing, refining,
pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, life sciences and R&D sectors. India has
also become the leading growth market for measurement and automation technologies.
With further foreign investments expected in India more companies will be looking
for business opportunities in the region.
"India will need to invest and employ the latest available technologies
to boost their capabilities and services, and CIA2007 will offer an extensive
range of technological advances and solutions especially with the robust growth
of the respective sectors," said Tee Boon Teong, Project Director, Singapore
Exhibition Services (SES). "Rapid development and increased technology
investments in India's pharmaceutical industry will further fuel expansion of
its market share," he said.
Despite its modest current market share in the global pharmaceutical sector,
the local industry has been growing at approximately ten percent per year. With
its innovatively engineered generic drugs and active pharmaceutical ingredients
(API), India has gained its foothold on the global scene, and is now seeking
to become a major player in outsourced clinical research, as well as contract
manufacturing and research. Both the Indian central and state governments have
also recognised R&D as an important driver in the growth of their businesses
and conferred tax deductions for expenses related to research and development.
Reflecting this trend, CIA2007, (ControlsAsia, InstrumentAsia, AnaLabAsia) will
once again make its return to Suntec Singapore from the 27th November to 30th
November 2007.
ControlsAsia2007 and Instrument-Asia2007 cover solutions and products for measuring
and testing, and include actuators and drives, bus systems, field devices, and
software on plant asset management, QA and test systems, ERP and supply chain
management, and more.
AnaLabAsia2007 will showcase solutions in assays and testing, chromatography,
diagnostics, lab automation, microscopy, optical and image analysis, spectroscopy,
filtration and separation technology, and other analytical science solutions.
Over 669 exhibiting companies from 38 countries and regions are expected to
come at the show this year, including six country group pavilions from China,
France, Germany, Singapore, Spain and UK. Some of the noteworthy players that
have already signed up include Merck, Varian Technologies, Millipore, Profibus
Group, Iwaki, Mitsubishi and Weidmuller, with the following supporting associations
on board-Profibus, Field Device Tool Group (FDT), JAIMA, GAMBICA, GRUFAC and
ICS.
As a show that endeavours to provide value added services to both visitors and
exhibitors, CIA2007 will be held alongside three conferences, which will provide
a timely and relevant platform for knowledge exchange and networking.
The ICS new technology forum will feature presentations on
topics such as asset management, material science, network design, and thermal
imaging technology while a conference on responsible waste management by CHWMEG
will provide valuable insights into the disposal of hazardous waste the correct
way. Also lined up is a half-day workshop on life sciences organised by the
Singapore Society for Mass Spectrometry (SSMS). Held in conjunction with these
events is Energex 2007, the 12th International Energy Conference and Exhibition,
and Enviro Asia 2007, an exhibition that promises excellent opportunities for
government ministries and industry players to view and seek out the latest available
technologies in environmental control and pollution management, water purification
technology, waste management treatment and disposal, waste recycling, measurement,
testing and calibration and many others.
