and Abraxis announce approval of Abraxane in India
Biocon and Abraxis BioScience, an integrated global biopharmaceutical
company, have announced the approval by the country's Drug
Controller General to market Abraxane for injectable suspension

of breast cancer.

Biogen Idec has officially opened an office in Gurgaon. Dr
Gunther Winkler, Senior Vice-President, Strategic Initiatives,

Suven Life Sciences has announced that the Indian Patent Office
has granted three product patents 208688, 208714 and 209540
corresponding to three New Chemical Entities (NCEs) for the
treatment of disorders associated with neuro-degenerative
diseases and these patents are valid until 2022.

Pharma enters ENT and Pediatrics
Ajanta Pharma, a specialty focused company, has entered the
niche segment of ENT and paediatrics through a new dedicated
division named Aureus, meaning 'gold' in Greek.

acquires Morton Grove in the US
Wockhardt has announced the acquisition of Morton Grove Pharmaceuticals,
a liquid generic and speciality dermatology company in the
US having sales revenue of US$ 52 million.

Pharma signs agreement with Combino Pharm
Dabur Pharma has announced that it has signed a supply and
distribution agreement with Combino Pharm, one of Spain's
leading generic companies, to distribute and market generic
oncology products in the Spanish market.

gets ok to sell its insulin spray
Generex Biotechnology has announced that Generex Oral-lyn,
its proprietary oral insulin spray product, has been approved
for importation and commercial marketing and sale in India
for the treatment of diabetes by the Central Drugs Standard
Control Organization (CDSCO), Directorate General of Health
Services, Government of India.
VLife
hives off research division as NovaLead Pharma
The Pune-based drug discovery software company, VLife Sciences,
has hived off its research division into a separate entity,
named as NovaLead Pharma.
Ipca
launches new pain manager
Ipca Laboratories has just launched India's first Etodolac,
called Etova, which is a new generation pain manager that
is considerably safer than Coxibs, which have been linked
to cardiovascular side-effects.
Accutest
Lab expands Ahmedabad clinical research operations
Accutest Research Laboratories, a full service clinical research
organisation with core strengths in bioequivalence/bioavailability
and pharmacokinetic studies and formulation development, inaugurated
its second facility, a clinical trial laboratory at Ahmedabad,
with an investment of Rs 7 crore.

Life Sciences Conclave
"The Indian government is willing to partner with the
Indian industry for a new bio-technology strategy and will
announce a policy within the next two weeks," said Kapil
Sibal, Honourable Union Minister for Science and Technology
and Earth Sciences, Government of India, at the valedictory
session of the 'Life Science Conclave-2007', organised by
the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

On the second anniversary of its founding, Nichi-in Centre
for Regenerative Medicine (NCRM) held its second symposium
on regenerative medicine with the topic of presentation being
stem cell research and its clinical studies.

Ancon India 2007 scores well in all disciplines
Analytica Anacon India 2007 closed its gates in Hyderabad
on November 2 with some outstanding results: More than 3,000
