Ajanta Pharma enters ENT and Pediatrics

Our News Bureau - Mumbai

Ajanta Pharma, a specialty focused company, has entered the niche segment of ENT and paediatrics through a new dedicated division named Aureus, meaning 'gold' in Greek. This division is aimed at fulfilling the unmet demands of the patients in these segments and all products have been developed in the R&D facility of the company. Initially, the division will launch six products addressing allergies, rashes and ototoxicity in the ear, nose and throat.

Yogesh Agrawal, Executive Director, Ajanta says, "ENT and paediatrics markets are just evolving as a separate category. The existing companies having these products were keeping it as a part of the total pharma portfolio without specific focus on this segment. Till now a patient had to visit a normal GP or MD for ENT or paediatric problem. Hence, the market size of this category is still not defined, but as per our estimates, the size is about Rs 250 crore and is growing consistently at a phenomenal rate. With special focus from companies like ours, the market is going to expand much more." The Aureus division has a dedicated field force and currently there are 111 team members, including managers. All the products have already been launched in the market in September.
