Dr Sapatnekar receives JAPI award

Dr
S M Sapatnekar, dean of Clinical Research Institute, has been judged as 'Best
Referee' by the Journal of Association of Physicians of India (JAPI) for 2007.
The award is given to the referee on the criteria of unbiased approach, promptitude,
sharpness, diversity in domain knowledge and consistency in performance. Dr
Sapatnekar is the former dean of Mumbai based Haffkine Institute.
On the occasion of announcing the award, Dr Shashank R Joshi, noted Mumbai based
endocrinologist and diabetes specialist, and current editor of JAPI said, "Dr
Sapatnekar has exhibited his flair particularly for the statistical analysis
of scientific data; medico-legal and ethical aspects of internal medicine."
JAPI, started in 1955, is the official scientific publication of the Association
of Physicians of India (API). It is a journal of repute, with its scientific
papers frequently cited for reference in the field of medicine. The journal
is managed by an editorial board which is assisted by many referees.
Best Referee awards have been given for many years since inception of the journal.
The award has been named after Dr V R Joshi since last year. This year, along
with Dr Sapatnekar (Mumbai), Dr R S Wadia (Pune) and Dr Rajesh Upadhyay (Delhi)
received the award. The awards are decided by the editorial board of JAPI, which
consists of more than 50 leading physicians of India.
