French delegation at Bangalore Bio 2008
Taking off from last year's theme to 'Think BIG' (Think biotechnology, innovation
and growth), this year's edition of Bangalore Bio will emphasise the need for
global partnering to drive growth, develop innovative pipelines, enter deals
for the commercialisation efforts, overcome capital constraints and capitalise
on core strengths for achieving global competitiveness.
A French delegation, consisting of five leading healthcare clusters and 15 companies
in the biotech sector will also participate in the event. The objective of their
visit is to get a better understanding of the biotechnology sector in India
and also to identify research partners among public-private organisations. The
visit is being organised by UBIFRANCE, in collaboration with the Economic Department
of the French Embassy in Mumbai and Bangalore.
Some of the prominent companies include Pierre Fabre, a specialist in dermo-cosmetics
and oncology, who is active in India since 2002, Lesaffre International group,
a world leader in yeast extract products for food and biopharmaceutical industry,
Voisin Consulting, a company having an expertise in design and implementation
of innovative regulatory strategies and due to open an office in Bangalore in
April 2008, and Vivalis, with innovative technologies in the area of vaccines
looking to identify partners for technology transfers.
Other participating companies include Clean Cells, Clestra Cleanroom, CIT, Eurofins-ADME
Bioanalyses, Imaxio, Incell Art, SACI-CFPA and Solabia.
