Cummins India launches new products
Cummins IndiaPower Generation Business Unit recently unveiled three new
products for the domestic market. The three new products include; 30/35 kVA
low horse power generator sets in the X series, and a 750 kVA high horse power
generator set in the QSK23 series.
The introduction of the 30/35 kVA range brings Cummins technology
and innovation to the rapidly increasing small businesses and mobile telecommunications
sector. Advanced features like optimum power density, full authority electronic
features and compliance to future emission norms of the QSK23, make this product
the preferred option for the IT/ITES, manufacturing, commercial and realty sectors.
"2008 marks a significant year for Cummins India's power generation business.
In the past four months alone, we have inaugurated two new manufacturing facilities
and performed the ground breaking ceremony for a third site to increase our
capacity in power generation. The first of the two new facilities opened at
Ranjangaon, close to Pune for manufacturing Stamford alternators. The second
unit built in Pirangut near Pune manufactures small generator sets from 15-140
kVA for original equipment manufacturers and global distributors. Manufac-turing
of generator sets below 15 kVA will commence at this facility later this year.
We held the ceremony of a new world class turbocharger manufacturing facility
in Pithampur in December 2007; production is due to start at the end of this
calendar year. These significant investments position Cummins to serve global
customers over the next three to five years, said Anant Talaulicar, Chairman
and Managing Director of Cummins India.
"Cummins Power Generation is excited about its market potential in India
and in markets all around the world. The X Series commands a significant market
in various regions including Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa and LAO. Till
date, the company has exported approximately 10,000 units of these small gensets
globally, with the demand growing rapidly. A dedicated export oriented unit
at our new plant in Pirangut will help to significantly ramp up this export
capacity further, Rampra-veen Swaminathan, Vice President of Cummins IndiaPower
Generation Business Unit said.
"We entered the small genset market around six years ago and within a short
period we have been able to consolidate a strong position with a premium product
line and highly dependable products. The product lines have broadened our power
generation customer base globally, and have helped us to become the only company
in India which can truly offer a complete range of 15 to 2500 kVA, he
added.
Talaulicar also spoke about new cummins. Over the last six years Cummins
has worked very hard to transform itself into a diversified, less cyclical,
more global and result oriented company. Cummins Power Generation like all the
other Cummins businesses in India has benefitted from this exercise and new
mindset," he added.
