Symogen's student receives international scholarship
The International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) has accepted the abstract
on Fixed Dose Combinations and Call for Effective Pharmacovigilance System
in Action in India to be presented at the 24th International Conference
in Pharmacoepidemiology and Therapeutic Risk Management, Copenhagen, Denmark
from August 17-20, 2008. This was a project thesis work submitted as part of
the Certificate Course in Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology conducted
by one of the students, Deepa Alimchandani, who was a student of the first batch
of the course conducted by Symogen and held at New Delhi from September 2007
to December 2007.
Also, the ISPE Scholarship Committee has granted Alimchandani to attend ICPE
2008, from August 17 to August 20, 2008. The scholarship will cover the registration
fee to attend the ICPE 2008, registration for Pre-ICPE courses, and a one-year
membership in the society. ISPE will also provide for her travel expenses to
a total of $1,750. The committee reviewed many applications before reaching
its decisions and had to make difficult decisions in allocating the scholarship
funds the ISPE Board of Directors appropriated.
ISPE, headquartered in USA, is an international organisation dedicated to advancing
the health of the public by providing a forum for the open exchange of scientific
information and for the development of policy; education; and advocacy for the
field of pharmacoepidemiology, including pharmacovigilance, drug utilisation
research, and therapeutic risk management.
