The Indian Chemical Council (ICC) recently informed that Jai Hiremath, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Hikal had been appointed as the President of ICC for the year 2008-2009 at its 68th AGM. Dutta Gupta, Managing Director, East India Pharmaceuticals and President of ICC, 2007-2008 handed over charge at an official ceremony hosted by ICC.

Sharing his plans for the year, Hiremath stated, "The Indian Chemical industry is currently at a threshold of significant growth and is poised to grow further. It will continue to grow higher than the GDP in the coming years. ICC intends to attract investments for the chemical industry across India and build closer relationship with global chemical industry associations. ICC will also work towards enhancing the image of the chemical industry in order to attract talent."

Speaking on the occasion, Dutta Gupta mentioned, "It has been a great experience steering ICC through the years with various challenges and opportunities not only in domestic market but also in international chemical trade. I am sure our new president; Jai Hiremath will lead ICC to greater heights on the global platform"
