Ideal Cures opens new R&D centre, application lab for film coating systems

Ideal Cures recently opened its new research centre and application lab in Goregaon, Mumbai. This centre is poised to bring out innovative products for the pharmaceutical industry and provide application support.

Speaking on this occasion Suresh Pareek, managing director, Ideal Cures emphasised that, “The centre has been established to serve the industry by way of introducing new excipients and film coating systems as well as to provide technical support to the customers for application of film coating systems, neutral spheres, pharma acrylic polymers and taste masking solutions.” The Center will be headed By Dr. Ashok Omray, a veteran in the pharma industry, assisted by a highly qualified team of scientists.

Ideal Cures is one of the leading excipient manufacturers and technical service providers. Besides the application labs at Vasai and Pachkulla, Ideal Cures also has a fully functional application lab in Milan, Italy. Ideal Cures' management observed that Indian organisations dealing with pharmaceuticals, foods and dyes industry are undergoing globalisation and therefore require a quick and easy access to support for world class products.

The research centre and application lab in Mumbai is spread over 15,000 sq. feet , and is, equipped with lab scale and scale-up facilities (machines, equipment and analytical instruments) to provide support for developing complete range of oral solid dosage forms. This includes tablets (all types), hard gelatin capsules, pellets, spheres, pharma acrylic polymers and modified release solid oral dosage forms.

Omray mentioned that, “The centre is also geared to provide the formulation development and stability study facilities for pharma companies, who either do not have the complete R&D set up or for bigger companies who want to move the projects on fast pace.” The novel set of equipment worth mentioning include spray dryer, Wurster coating – Pam Glatt 1.1 GPGC (bottom and top spray for powders, pellets and tablets), auto coaters for film coating with conventional and perforated pans from 200 g to 15 kg capacity, USP Type III dissolution rate test apparatus (in addition to regular ones), walk-in chambers for stability studies with climatic conditions meeting the global regulatory requirements etc.

The centre has a team of highly qualified and experienced scientists, who are available to plan and execute the projects. Ideal Cures' field force and technical support team is available at their facility and customers’ manufacturing or research facilities for technical support, problem solving, demonstrations, providing support for upgrading the facilities and discussions to get input for future development and improvement.

These prejects are besides the company’s own ongoining projects in the field of film coating. The company’s endeavour is to bring out innovative, economic, eco-friendly and cost cum productivity effective film coating solutions. The company has made great strides in the field of other ready to use excipients for the pharma industry which include – acrylic polymers (for film coating and taste masking) neutral spheres for drug loading, extended cooling compounds and many more things to come.
